Terminal Management

Terminal Management is an extensive and powerful toolset that allows asset managers to configure attributes, set parameters, and even execute commands to control their terminals over the air for devices that support two-way communications and accept commands. To open the Terminal Management options of an Asset, click the gear icon in the List Panel for the Asset, and then select Edit Asset.

The Main section allows users to set and modify the Asset’s Attributes that were assigned when the Asset was created. These attributes include:

  • Name
  • Device ID Number (IMEI, MSID, etc)
  • Sensitivity
  • Icon
  • Color

The Groups section allows users to manage the Groups to which the Asset belongs. A list of available groups will appear in a list, and those with a green check next to them will contain the Asset. Users can toggle the check marks on or off to add or remove the Asset from any number of Groups.

The Users section allows admin users to manage the other users that have access to the Asset. Like the Groups page, the names of all portal users will appear in a list with a green check next to those who have access to the Asset. Admin users can toggle the check marks on or off to add or remove access for any number of Users.

The Attributes section will have device-specific fields that can be filled in by the user in order to store pertinent information about the Asset in a single record. To see more about what each Attribute means, see the feature article on Attributes.

The I/O section allows users to configure I/O mapping for the device.

  • Analog tolerance

  • I/O mapping template

Users have the option of setting the Driver for the device from a drop-down list, or pulling driver information and status if any have logged into the asset.

The Alerts section displays all Alerts that have been tied to the Asset and allows users to edit those Alerts or remove them from the list.

Each Asset has a number of Settings that can be configured and manipulated to display status in the portal. A number of these settings, if left unchanged by the portal operator, will be dynamic data from the Asset’s reporting activity if it has been configured to update its own Status and Settings with its messages to the portal.
